Considering Nose Surgery?

Should I have Nose Surgery?

Answer:

Dr Hunt will discuss your situation and suitability for nose surgery in detail during your personal one-on-one consultation.

What's involved in Nose surgery?

Answer:

Dr Hunt performs all surgery of the nose under a general anesthetic, administered by one of his carefully selected anesthetists in the hospital of your choice.

Either an open or closed surgical technique will be used, depending on the extent of your surgery. However both techniques leave small scarring on the outside of the nose, as all incisions are made from the inside.

During your surgery, Dr Hunt will separate the skin of your nose from the bone and cartilage, before adjusting to the desired size and shape.

When your surgery is finished, a splint will be placed over the bridge of your nose. If your septum was adjusted (the cartilage between your nostrils), Dr Hunt will also pack inside your nose.

The whole procedure generally takes around two hours.

How long will I be off work after Nose Surgery?

Answer:

You should plan on taking two weeks off work to allow a full recovery depending on the physical demands of your occupation

When will I see the final Nose Surgery results?

Answer:

While it will take many months for the skin of your nose to fully ‘re-drape’ and to see the absolute final result, you may see changes within a few weeks. You should wait at least a full 12 months to see the final result.

How should I choose my surgeon?

Answer:

  • Never take someone’s word that a surgeon is the right surgeon, follow up with your own online research
  • Look for before and after pictures so you can see the results firsthand
  • Check your surgeon’s credentials with AHPRA and only choose a surgeon that is a specialist
  • The Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons ( ASPS ) can direct you to a surgeon in your area that has a special interest in the procedure you are considering

How do I check a plastic surgeon’s record?

Answer:

You can check your plastic surgeon’s record by looking them up on the Australian medical board. This will let you know about the certification of your surgeon and whether or not they are a specialist surgeon. Moreover, you can call your area’s medical board to check if the surgeon of your choosing has any malpractice lawsuits against them.

Which surgeons do rhinoplasty?

Answer:

Plastic surgeons, facial plastic surgeons, and otolaryngologists (ENT) surgeons can all perform rhinoplasties as their fields focus on the nose anatomy and health.
