Male Rhinoplasty FAQs - Questions about Male Nose Surgery
Should I have Male Nose Surgery?
Answer:
Depending on your specific goals, male nose reshaping can achieve many things – reducing or increasing the size of your nose, changing its shape (its width, its tip, its bridge), narrowing your nostrils, straightening any bends… It may also be combined with septoplasty – septum surgery – to relieve breathing problems.
Just as every nose is different, so is every nose surgery. In your personal consultation with Dr Hunt, he will discuss your needs, suggest an appropriate surgery, and answer any questions you may have.

What's involved with Rhinoplasty for Men?
Answer:
Dr Hunt will perform your male nose surgery or male nose reshaping under general anaesthetic in the hospital of your choice. Your anaesthetic will be administered by one of Dr Hunt’s preferred partners, all of whom are members of the Australian Society of Anaethetists.
Dr Hunt will use either an open or closed surgical technique, depending on what you have discussed prior to your surgery.
When can I go home after Nose Surgery for Men?
Answer:
It will be your decision whether to go home on the day of your surgery, or stay in hospital overnight. You can discuss these options with Dr Hunt during your consultation. Regardless, you will be given pain medication to minimise any discomfort once you get home. Cold packs can also help.
Will I have to return for post-operative care after Nose Surgery?
Answer:
You will see Dr Hunt within the first week after your surgery so he can assess your recovery. During this visit Dr Hunt will remove any packing you may have in your nose, remove the splint from your nose, re-tape the top of your nose and will also usually remove any sutures. You will then have regular follow up visits over the next year, to ensure that both you and Dr Hunt are happy with the results of your male nose reshaping surgery.
How long will I be off work after Male Rhinoplasty?
Answer:
You should plan at least two weeks off work to allow a complete recovery of your male nose reshaping.
When can I resume my normal activities after Nose Surgery?
Answer:
When you get home from hospital, you should spend the first day resting in bed with your head elevated. The next few days should then be spent at home, with limited movement. The swelling and bruising around your eyes will actually increase at first, peaking at around three days after your male nose surgery. However, most swelling and bruising should disappear within two weeks. Some subtle swelling may remain for several months, however only you and Dr Hunt will be aware of it.
When will I see the end result of Male Nose Surgery?
Answer:
Two weeks after your surgery, all your dressings will have been removed to reveal the size and shape of your new nose. However, it will take a number of months for your nose to fully recover so you can enjoy its final result.
