CAUTION! – A word of caution about the cheapest cosmetic surgery and under-trained cosmetic doctors
Dr Jeremy Hunt urges you to be extremely cautious when considering ‘bargain’ surgeries – if the price seems to be too good to be true, it probably is. It is far better to invest in a qualified plastic surgeon from the outset than to have to pay for a second surgery to correct the first. Always search for the acronyms MBBS FRACS after a plastic surgeon’s name.
Dr Hunt operates in leading hospitals with qualified and highly experienced anaesthetists and uses only top-of-the-range implants. Above all, what you are paying for is experience and quality when entrusting your body, your health and your appearance to Dr Hunt.
If you’re considering cosmetic surgery, cost and prices are things that are no doubt on your mind. The costs of plastic surgery vary greatly, depending on the type of procedure being undertaken. Cosmetic surgery costs will also reflect the level of expertise, experience, and often the level of safety provided by the surgeon.
Why do Sydney Cosmetic Surgery Prices differ so much?
Put simply, there isn’t an average cost on cosmetic procedures for a number of reasons. Most plastic and cosmetic surgeons work to the recommended schedule set out by the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons and Australian Medical Association, which provides a correlation without unifying costs across procedures. The cost of cosmetic surgery will vary based on your needs and the complexity of the procedure, and most procedures actually have four different, variable costs:
- Surgeon’s Fee – The surgeon’s fee for cosmetic procedures will vary according to the complexity and duration required to complete the surgery
- Theatre Cost – Relates to how long you spend in the operating theatre. This is often called the theatre fee
- Anaesthesia – These charges are based on the type of anaesthesia required, be it local or general, along with the operating procedures of the anaesthetist
- Devices – Breast implants, cheek and chin implants and injectables such as fillers and anti-wrinkle injections are referred to as ‘devices’, with prices varying in line with what you require
A surgeon with the highest qualifications such as Fellow Royal Australian College of Surgeons (FRACS), and Member Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), who uses a fully qualified anaesthetist and operates in a fully accredited hospital will have a higher overall fee, but will offer greater safety, surgical experience and expertise.
Be sure that the fee you think you are paying is the total cost of surgery. A cheaper cost may seem appealing but might not include the fees required from hospitals and support medical practitioners such as anaesthetists.
