Recovery after Male Chin Surgery

The recovery period after male chin surgery can take up to two weeks for most patients. During this time, make sure to take the analgesic medication to alleviate the potential pain and discomfort.

It is best to avoid strenuous physical activities during the first two weeks after male chin surgery and make sure to take time off from work to allow your body to heal. Here are more recommendations for the recovery period after male chin surgery:

  • Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol for at least two weeks
  • Avoid steam rooms and saunas
  • Keep the incisions clean and dry at all times
  • Have a healthy and balanced diet
  • Keep your body hydrated
  • Sleep with your head elevated

To avoid risks and complications that could occur during the recovery period make sure to follow Dr Hunt’s indications.

FAQs

Should I have Male Chin Surgery?

Answer:

An unbalanced chin can detract from otherwise attractive features. If you feel your chin is too small or too large for your face, chin surgery could help to balance your profile. Proportionate features can have an enormous impact on your appearance – and with next to no scarring.

In your personal consultation with Dr Hunt, he will draw on his extensive craniofacial surgery experience to determine the way to achieve your desired results. He’ll explain his recommended chin surgery in detail, and answer any questions.

What's involved in Chin Surgery for Men?

Answer:

Dr Hunt will perform your chin surgery under a general anaesthetic, administered by an experienced member of the Australian Society of Anaethetists.

LARGE CHIN

Dr Hunt will reshape the bone of your chin to achieve a more attractive proportion, as agreed prior to your surgery. This will be achieved by making a tiny incision in your mouth.

SMALL CHIN

Dr Hunt will make a small incision in your mouth before inserting a chin implant, selected prior to your surgery to achieve the best possible balance with your other facial features.

When can I go home after Male Chin Surgery?

Answer:

Most of Dr Hunt’s chin surgery patients stay in hospital overnight, although in some cases you may go home the same day as your surgery. You will be prescribed medication to manage any pain once you get home.

Will I have to return for post-operative care after Chin Surgery?

Answer:

You will see Dr Hunt within the week after your surgery. At this time, any sutures will be removed.

You’ll then have follow up visits to ensure both you and Dr Hunt are happy with your surgery results. These will occur at six weeks, and again at three, six and 12 months.

How long will I be off work after Male Chin Surgery?

Answer:

You will need to allow 7 to 10 days off work to recover.

When can I resume my normal activities after Chin Recontouring Surgery?

Answer:

When you get home from hospital, you will need to rest in bed with your head elevated for the first day, and limit your movements to around the house for the next two or three days. Dr Hunt also recommends eating lightly during this time. However, you will be able to resume all other activities as soon as you feel comfortable.

When will I see the end result of Male Chin Surgery?

Answer:

You will notice a positive change in your chin and appearance the moment your dressings are removed. However, it will take around six weeks for the full effect of your transformation to unfold.
